Systeme.io: the marketing stack you don't pay for until it works.
verdict
The free plan is real: email list, landing pages, funnels, even selling a product — no card required. For a solo dev who needs "a way to collect emails and send a launch announcement," it replaces two or three paid subscriptions. Upgrade only when your list or automation needs outgrow the caps.
Most "free" marketing tools are trials wearing a costume. Systeme.io's free tier is the actual product with usage caps — contacts, funnels, and emails are limited, but nothing essential is paywalled. That structure happens to fit a pre-launch side project perfectly: your list is small, your needs are simple, your budget is zero.
What you get on free
| Need | Covered on free? |
|---|---|
| Email list + broadcasts | Yes, up to the contact cap |
| Landing page / waitlist page | Yes |
| Sales funnel | Yes, limited number |
| Sell a digital product | Yes |
| Custom domain | Limited — check current plan terms |
The catch, honestly
The editor is funnel-marketer-shaped, not developer-shaped — expect drag-and-drop, not Markdown. And the caps are designed to be hit the month your project starts working, which is exactly when paying stops hurting. That's a fair deal; just know it going in.
Some links on this page are affiliate links — if you sign up through them, SoloStack earns a commission at no extra cost to you. I only list tools I'd run on my own server. Full disclosure.
